The Supreme Court of India is peak judicial forum and final court of plea under constitution of India. It also may take cognisance of matters on its own or suo moto without anyone drawing its attention to them. Supreme Court has widespread powers in form of original, appellate and advisory jurisdictions. It consisting chief justice and 30 sanctioned other judges.
Supreme Court History: The Supreme Court of India (SCI) came into continuation on 26 January 1950 and it located on Tilak Marg, New Delhi. Till moving (1958) present building Supreme Court functioned from the Parliament House. Inauguration took place in the Chamber of Princes in Parliament building which also housed India’s Parliament, consisting of the Council of States and the House of the People. The Court moved to present building in 1958.

Supreme Court Inaugurate: Supreme Court inauguration on 28 January 2018 after two days of Sovereign Democratic Republic, inaugural began at 9.45 am simple and impressive. Supreme Court Rules 1966 are framed under Article 145 pf the Constitution to regulate the practice and procedure of the Supreme Court.
Supreme Court Judges: The original constitution of 1950 envision a Supreme Court with Chief Justice and 7 puisne Judges. Parliament increased the number of Judges 8 to 11 in 1956, 14 in 1960, 18 in 1978 and 26 in 1986 due to work of the Court increased. Present strength of Supreme Court is 24 including Chief Justice, but sanctioned strength is 31.
Chief Justice Appoint: Supreme Court of India Chief Justice and Judges were appointed by the President of India. Chief Justice of India (CJI) is head of Judiciary of India and SCI, CJI also heads their administrative functions. Once appointed the chief justice remains in office until the age of 65 years. He can be removed only through process of impeachment by parliament.
SCI Judges Appoint: Supreme Court of India Judges appointed by President of India. For appointing SCI Judge person must be citizen of India and must have atleast five years Judge of High court or two of two or more courts in scccession or an advocate of High court of two or two or more such courts in succession for at least 10 years or must be in the opinion of President a distinguished jurist.
